Risk is an integral part of every assignment. It is about understanding not only
what might go wrong, but when, and why, and what can be done about it. It is
about positively differentiating between opportunity and threat, and initially
results in the publication of a Risk Register, a list of the identified
problems. When risks and opportunities are identified and understood, strategies
can be developed to minimise adversity and maximise value.
Risk can be viewed as a continuum, with opportunities for mitigation at any time
from conceptualisation of an idea to implementation. Unfortunately, many treat
risk assessment as something to be employed when a problem occurs, but this is
too late. g7 view risk assessment is a tool to be used to help address
problems before they emerge, not only does it identify risks, is provides the
justification for the cost of counter measures.
Many assignments start with a risk assessment. Once the full detail of the
assignment has been determined g7 selects an appropriate team of experts
for the work, a mobilisation process that typically takes 4 – 6 weeks. Once the
team is assembled work commences, with a through initial report normally
produced and ready for review with the client within 16 weeks. Once the review
is complete, g7 supports the client in internal briefings and are able to
assist with putting in place a programme of corrective actions.
Working closely with our clients, g7 Risk Consulting facilitates the
early identification and treatment of commercial, operational and technical
risks, helping to develop appropriate risk management strategies and assisting
in their implementation. We believe that the early identification of risks pays
dividends in the long run as mitigation measures are invariably less expensive
the earlier they are introduced.
